Florida law and the Department of Health regulate radon measurement and mitigation services. Before hiring, use the Department’s current lists and verify the business, certification category and status. A directory entry is not a substitute for a written scope, insurance review or other due diligence.
Mandatory facility testing is a separate track
Florida’s current mandatory-testing page identifies covered facility types, including K–12 schools, state-licensed day care centers and certain 24-hour care facilities, and publishes county-specific applicability. Its current St. Johns County listing and exclusions must be read directly for the facility’s building classification.
The Department currently describes two tests conducted five years apart and identifies additional testing triggers, including qualifying structural renovation or a change that makes the facility legally new. Facility operators should confirm the current rule, method, filing steps and deadlines with the Florida Department of Health Radon Program before acting.

Construction and permit questions
Florida Building Code information includes radon-resistant construction resources. A retrofit’s permit and electrical requirements depend on the property, jurisdiction and proposed scope. Check the address with St. Johns County or the City of St. Augustine as applicable.
