Mitigation guide

A good proposal explains the building, the design and the proof afterward.

Radon reduction is regulated work in Florida. Compare a written, building-specific scope—not a generic promise about price, timing or the final number.

Start with a valid measurement

A mitigation decision should rest on a test that followed the appropriate exposure, placement and building-condition instructions. Ask what measurement the design uses and whether a confirmation test is appropriate for your situation.

Four places the proposal should be specific

  1. Measurement. Method, result, test conditions and the level of the building represented.
  2. Foundation. Slab or other foundation assessment, likely pressure-field strategy and proposed suction-point reasoning.
  3. System. Fan, vent route, sealing, electrical work and discharge location, with code or permit questions resolved for the actual address.
  4. Verification. Post-mitigation measurement, operating instructions, labels, maintenance information and written warranty terms.

What a system indicator tells you

A pressure indicator such as a manometer can show whether the fan is producing pressure in the pipe. It does not measure the indoor radon concentration. A post-mitigation radon test evaluates the indoor result.

Certification comes before comparison

Florida requires radon measurement and mitigation professionals to be certified. Check the current Florida Department of Health lists, then confirm that the business name and scope on the proposal match the certification you found.

Maintaining an existing system

Keep the system label, drawings, test reports, operating instructions and warranty together. Watch the system indicator as the installer directs, and arrange a radon test when current guidance, a system change or your circumstances call for one. A repair question still belongs with a currently certified mitigation business.
